Community Consultations
The HACC Program has recognised the importance of consumer participation as an essential part of effective service planning, service development and management as well as contributing to continuous quality improvement. This will be achieved through the new growth funding provided to a consortium of recognised consumer representative organisations consisting of Carers Queensland, Council on the Ageing Qld (COTAQ) and Queensland Aged & Disability Advocacy Inc. (QADA). The consortium will be known as C3. C3 propose to conduct a series of independent consultations aligned to the HACC Program planning cycle to involve older people, people with disabilities and their carers. These consultations will be undertaken in rural, remote and metropolitan areas throughout Queensland over a three year period commencing in February 2007. The C3 will be developing a plan in consultation with the HACC Unit, Area HACC Managers, services and broader community groups in each area. Information obtained from consumers will not only contribute to improved targeting and allocation of new HACC dollars but will be provided to the HACC program in order to inform HACC’s thinking in relation to identifying appropriate and good practice service and funding models that will support and better meet the needs of older people, people with disabilities and their carers.
