QADA is in a unique position to provide independent advocacy support.QADA recognises that there are several ways to provide advocacy support and is able to influence positive consumer outcomes in the following ways:
- Individual self-advocacy. Via QADA providing information, support, and education.
- Advocacy through a third party (Person acting on behalf of another i.e. carer or family member). This is non-formal support where a family member or an interested party acts on behalf of the person, with the potential support of QADA (through information, support and/or education).
- Representative advocacy. Where an advocate offers partisan representation, information and support with a minimum of conflict of interest.
- Systemic advocacy. Tracking trends and analysing data derived from casework and educational activities to inform systemic activities.
QADA has developed an advocacy framework which identifies and develops further aspects of our work that support the individual client in exercising their rights and responsibilities.
